Silhouette workshops

During a team building event the "Silhouette Cutting" will provide a uniquely challenging moment in the day. The artist will first of all take a volunteer from the group and demonstrate how to cut a simple head & shoulder silhouette. This will take about 2 to 3 minutes (as the artist will be working quite slowly!) After the demonstration the delegates are given scissors and paper, asked to find a partner, and allowed a few minutes to cut a silhouette of each other, with help and encouragment from the artist.

The results usually range from completely hilarious to surprisingly good! Silhouette Cutting provides an interesting test of "spatial aptitude", as well as manual dexterity. You will soon spot those in your company with hidden artistic talent! It provides for everybody a very "hands-on" insight into a traditional English craft. Most importantly, however, it's good fun!

This silhouette workshop is unique and not at all traditional. Silhouettists, like magicians, are traditionally a secretive lot, and shy of sharing their skills with others. However, for your event we can leave all that behind and put our scissors in the hands of your guests, giving them unique instruction in a centuries old skill.

The Evening Party

Another use for silhouette cutting is to also book an artist to work during the evening dinner. We will mix among the attendees during the drinks reception and continue working around the tables between the courses of the meal itself, cutting silhouettes of everybody who wants one in a variety of styles. If your guests have already "had a go" at cutting simple head & shoulder silhouettes earlier in the day they will be amazed at the variety and complexity of the silhouettes produced by the artist during the evening party.
