The artists of The Roving Artist Ltd cut freehand portrait silhouettes from black paper, using just a pair of scissors and a technique called Cut & Hope! Charles Burns and Mike Herbert offer an eye-catching entertainment for corporate events, trade-fairs, and other parties.

For the un-initiated, silhouette cutting is an extraordinary miracle of hand-eye co-ordination that most people simply don't believe is possible; the silhouettist chooses a subject, takes a pair of scissors & some black paper, and cuts them out. From any angle and at any size. It takes about 90 seconds (if that) and yes, it does look like them. Those chosen (whether willing volunteers or press ganged by their friends) will receive a beautifully crafted cameo portrait of themselves, cut from black paper and professionally mounted onto a printed card.

Charles Burns & Mike Herbert are to be found at many of the most prestigious events in the country, including an appearance at the Queen's 80th birthday party. You can book them either individually or together to appear at your event.

Background

Founder artist Charles Burns began cutting silhouettes nearly twenty years ago and today has a deserved reputation as the finest silhouette artist working in the country today. Realising that there was a bit of a gap in the entertainments market he set about finding other artists working in similar vein, and today runs a small network of the few professional silhouettists working in the country today that he is happy to recommend. The Roving Artist provides an eye catching and remarkably different kind of entertainment. This network enables him to provide silhouette cutters to suit most budgets across a wide range of localities.
