PEOPLE ARE THE INVISIBLE presence in the landscape around us. Today, almost all landscapes are to some extent shaped by human beings. This series is based on the series of small landscape oil studies I made from 2010 to 2013.
I set out with the idea of putting the landscapes inside silhouettes, which I then called “internal landscapes” (although it isn’t clear whether we are in the landscape or the landscape is inside us). I created twelve of them altogether, but only ten were finished.
They were exhibited in two open studio events as well as the inaugural Get Reading Art exhibition at John Lewis in Reading in 2019. Each piece measures 40” x 30” as is available to collectors from the studio.
