Landscape Oil Studies 2010–2013

THESE SMALL LANDSCAPE STUDIES were created en plein air, that is, working outdoors. The idea of working outside is that it allows a more direct response to nature than is possible working in the studio.

This means the marks I make and the colours I use are mostly unplanned and result from my responding both to what I see, but also to what I feel about the landscape. This series was later used as the basis for my larger Internal Landscape series.

Most are no longer available, having been purchased, given away, or hung in my own home.
